Martha Roby accepts Appropriations Committee appointment
Second-term U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee, recognized as one of the “power committees” in Congress because it is responsible for assigning specific expenditures of money by the government.
“Appropriations has oversight on the whole range of government spending. This new role provides a unique opportunity to push for the kind of conservative spending priorities that will put us on a sustainable financial path for future generations,” Roby said in a written statement Wednesday.
With the appointment, Roby will give up seats on the Armed Services, Agriculture and Education and the Workforce committees.
