Roby Statement on Shooting at Congressional Baseball Practice
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-Ala.) today released the following statement after the shooting at congressional baseball practice earlier this morning:
“I was not at the baseball practice today. Everyone in my office is safe and accounted for. We are all praying for my friend Majority Whip Steve Scalise and the others who were shot, including Capitol Police officers. These officers work very hard to protect us every day, and I want to thank the Capitol Police and all law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives to protecting people.
“We still don’t know a lot of details, and right now we are just thinking about those who were hurt. I ask that everyone join me in praying for those who were injured and also for our country. This nation needs the blessing, comfort, and guidance that only God can provide.”
