Roby to the Senate on Obamacare: Doing Nothing is not an Option
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-Ala.) today reacted to the Senate’s failure to repeal and replace Obamacare and said despite differing opinions and solutions, the Senate needs to come together to deliver results for the American people.
“I am very disappointed to hear about the breakdown in the Senate over the health care bill, but I was pleased to hear the President is encouraging the Senate to stay and get their work done,” Roby said. “The House has done its job, and now it is time for the Senate to roll up their sleeves and get to work.
“Doing nothing is not an option,” Roby added. “Obamacare is crumbling all around us and we have to keep our promise to the American people to repeal this law and replace it with policy that makes sense.”
In May, the House passed the American Health Care Act, which was the first of a three-step Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. Efforts to pass similar legislation in the Senate have stalled, prompting President Trump to call Republican Senators to the White House in an effort to revive the bill’s chances.
