Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-Ala.) today responded to the release of President Trump’s tax reform proposal and said she was pleased to see the President embrace policies that would boost the economy, create jobs, and simplify the tax code for all Americans.
“I’m really pleased that President Trump released a proposal for tax reform. I support any opportunity to put money back into the hands of hardworking Americans, and Congress is more than willing to work with the President in his efforts to reform the tax code,” Roby said. “Our country needs a fairer, flatter, simpler code to be competitive in the global market and create jobs. Tax reform would grow our economy – period.”
This week President Trump released a blueprint of tax reform proposals that included making the corporate tax rate more competitive, cutting the number of tax brackets from seven to three, and doubling the standard deduction. President Trump’s proposal would also eliminate the “death tax” that hurts farmers and small business owners while imposing a one-time tax on the trillions of dollars held by American corporations overseas.
