Although this holiday season will look different for us all due to the current health pandemic, we must remember the countless ways in which we are blessed. Whether you are gathering with loved ones or remaining in the comfort of your own home, I hope we all take time to celebrate gratitude – something we may not do enough of these days.

Saturday, October 24, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which aims to address this critical health issue. This annual initiative provides Americans an opportunity to responsibly dispose of unused prescription drugs while also raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Over 23 million pounds of medications have been effectively collected across the nation since the first Take Back Day in 2010.

It is important that we take this opportunity to talk about breast cancer facts, warning signs and risks, treatment options, and more.

I have been in close communication with Governor Ivey’s office as Hurricane Sally moved across Alabama, and she ensured us that the appropriate state agency resources will be available to our counties and municipalities in the Second District. My team has also been in contact with leaders and elected officials across the district to communicate with them our readiness to assist with recovery efforts.
